What’s next for the Jets?

The Jets have had one-heck of-an offseason thus far. Fixing up the offense and offensive-line, bringing back familiar faces and what not. However, there are still moves to be made, weather it’s depth moves, starters, this team is not done yet. Lets take a look at some candidates the Jets can add/bring-back:

Connor McGovern

Connor McGovern signed a handsome contract with the New York Jets back in 2020, signing for $27 million with $18 million guaranteed. McGovern, who was the starting C from 2020-a good portion of the 2023 season that after an injury to McGovern, it was Tippman time. McGovern, can play multiple guard/C positions, and gives the Jets great depth, a veteran swingman that would be phenomenal to keep.

David Bakhtiari

Bakhtiari, great friends with Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Both spent basically their entire-careers in Green Bay, and have developed a very strong friendship. When Bak was cut by the Packers, Rodgers and Bak shared a little cryptic message. Could a Rodgers-Bakhtiari reunion be in the cards? Bak, has had 5 knee-surgeries over his career, would be a little worrisome with the MetLife turf, but since the World Cup (and soccer games over the summer) will be played at MetLife, it is REQUIRED that any stadium hosting must use real grass. I would not hate a one-year deal, has a backup piece. You can never have too much depth.

ST Justin Hardee

It baffles me that pro-bowl Special teams Justin Hardee is still NOT signed. On special-teams, he has been phenomenal. He is someone I want (and expect) to be re-signed, considering how good our Special-teams were last year-and-even the year prior.

Ashtyn Davis

Ashtyn Davis had an absolute career-defining season, accumulating 23 solo tackles, 1 forced fumble, 3 interceptions (most notably, intercepting the great Patrick Mahomes week 6) and 8 pass-deflections. The Jets have re-signed S Chuck Clark who missed ALL of last year with a torn ACL, and, as stated previously, it’s never bad to have great depth. Would love Davis back on a cheap one-two year deal.

WR Corey Davis

Corey retired from the NFL last august, but, as of March 14th, he has returned and been granted his release from the Jets, but both the Jets and Davis have mutual interest in a reunion. However, it is also said he would like to play near his home in Nashville. Davis always had drop-issues, but also never had strong Quarterback play, and I firmly believe his numbers would be better with someone like Rodgers. And with the injury concern with Williams, a Davis reunion would be great.

WR Tyler Boyd

Now, I don’t believe this would happen, but it would be awesome. Boyd has accumulated two 1,000 yard seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals as the WR3. Boyd, would not only give the Jets another-good weapon, but in-case of injury, would shine and show-off his skills along with Garrett and Mike.

WR Allen Lazard..?

Yes. I said Allen Lazard. Lazard struggled a-lot last season in the absence of Aaron Rodgers, the Jets adding other weapons like Williams could allow Lazard to create a good role for himself where he doesn’t have to get a bulk of targets. Lazard was virtually invisible last season, accumulating 311 yards and ONE Touchdown. The amount of money he is being paid, and the production is not adding up, and granted the Jets had AWFUL Quarterback play, however, 311 yards/one touchdown is inexcusable, regardless who is throwing the football. Now, has he ever been a 1,000 yard guy? No. However, 311 yards is atrocious. I believe (assuming they don’t add another WR) he will bounce-back with Aaron Rodgers.

RB J.K. Dobbins

Baltimore Ravens Running-back J.K. Dobbins is now a free-agent, and is second-favorited to sign with the Jets (BetMaryland). Dobbins has always had injury problems, last season suffering a torn Achilles. Him and Rodgers rehabbed together last season, maybe there is some interest between the both sides? Dobbins has scored 12 touchdowns in three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, rushing for 1,347 yards. I’ve always been a HUGE Dobbins fan, dating-back to his early college days at Ohio st. I would welcome J.K. With open arms, as RB2.

RB Ezekiel Elliot

Longtime Cowboys Running-Back, Ezekiel “zeke” Elliot, spent last year with Jets rival the New England Patriots. Elliot, accumulated 164 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns. Not the most eye-opening numbers, however, his ability that is really good is he NEVER fumbles, good blocker, and can-be-a good pass-catching back. Also, can give current starting RB Breece Hall valuable advise as he enters year 3. Is Zeke the old Zeke? No. And that’s not what the Jets are looking for. They are looking for someone who can get the rough-yards, the goaline, or short-yardage guy.
