The Knicks announced Saturday that they acquired F OG Anunoby and from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a 2nd round draft pick via Detroit. Many reports say that executives were surprised when the Knicks did not have to surrender any first round picks in this deal, which many have stated that it shows the Knicks are not done, and they will likely make another significant roster supplement ahead of the trading deadline in early February.

Hawks Guard Dejounte Murray
Though we know the Knicks have interest in Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell dating back to his time in Utah, and we know the interest is mutual, Cleveland will not likely look to trade him and Mitchell doesn’t hit free agency until after next season, the next best bet? Dejounte Murray is reportedly the Knicks primary trade target after acquiring Anunoby, it is unknown currently weather or not Atlanta will make him available, but currently sitting at 13-19 and outside of the Play-In, they may consider moving different pieces on their roster. Murray would be a good acquisition by the Knicks and could help elevate them toward the top of the Eastern Conference.

Murray is a very good two-way player that would provide lots of value for the Knicks. If the Knicks were to acquire him, they wouldn’t have to give up much in terms of draft capital. Murray would probably slot into the Knicks starting SG spot. But if they do acquire him they would likely have him for the rest of his 4 year contract that starts next season.
