Mets’ Swept By Brewers

Mets headed into Milwaukee with a 3-1 record. They left with a 3-4 record after getting bullied by the Brewers.

GAME 1

In the first game Carlos Carrasco imploded after the 5th inning and top hitters were silent:

McNeil 0-4 1 K

Alonso 0-4 1 K

Marte 0-4 1 K

Lindor 0-1 2 BB 1 K

Nimmo 0-2 2 BB 1 K

As you can see not one of them recorded a hit in the lopsided 10-0 loss in game one against the Brew Crew. Tommy Hunter entered the game after Carrasco and gave up 5 ER so not a great day for the Mets’ pitching. Not much to this story as it was just a beating by Milwaukee to the Mets. Final Score: 10-0 Milwaukee.

GAME 2:

With “Mad Max” Scherzer on the bump the Mets didn’t fair any better as the Brewers’ got to him early with Brian Anderson getting a 2 run double. Bats got silent till the bottom half of the 6th inning where the Brewers’ hit back to back to back home runs making it 8-0, Scherzer gave up 5 ER while Brooks Raley gave up 4 ER. Both McNeil and Nimmo recorded 3 hits in game 2 of the series but the Mets’ still couldn’t get on the board. Final Score: 9-0 Brewers.

GAME 3:

Started off with the Mets’ getting their first run of the series with Francisco Lindor driving in Starling Marte with a RBI double. Then the Brewers fought back, Owen Miller RBI single, then Joey Weimer launched a 3 run shot over the right field fence giving the Brewers a 3 run lead, 4-1. Lindor came up clutch again with another RBI hit driving in Marte, this time with a single. Next at-bat Pete Alonso launched his 1st of 2 HR’s with a nice shot over the right center fence, 4-4 ball game. Alonso then did it again with a 424 ft home run to center field, making it 6-4 Mets’ first lead of the series. Jesse Winker the “Met Killer” launched a 2 run double into the gap off RHRP Drew Smith, making it a 6-6 ball game. It got quiet until the bottom half of the 9th when Garrett Mitchell lead it off, and ended the game with a solo shot to right walking it off for the Brewers. Final Score: 7-6 Brewers.
