Jets Shock The NFL World And Trade Two Elite Players

(NYpost//Andrew Crane)

BREAKING: The New York Jets have TRADED All-Pro DT Quinnen Williams, and All-Pro CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. The Jets appear to fully embrace the “tank” and are looking to build the team around the draft the next two seasons.

The Sauce Trade

(JetsXFactor//Connor Long)

Sauce Gardener was traded for the Colts 2026 first, 2027 first, and young receiver, Adonai Mitchell. Mitchell was drafted in 2024, 52nd overall. Mitchell has accumulated 32 receptions, 464 yards and 0 touchdowns. In a game last season vs the Jets, he actually burned Sauce Gardner on a route. The Jets were not actively shipping Sauce. They were not looking to trade him. They were simply given an offer they couldn’t refuse, two first for someone who’s not the best at their respective position is an absolute MUST, and new GM Darren Mougey did great. This comes as a surprise to many as Sauce was just extended a few months back, but they did great at maxing out his value.

Quinnen Williams.

(CBS sports//Zachary Pereles)

Quinnen Williams was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for 2026 second round pick, 2027 first round pick, and DT Mazi Smith. Mazi Smith was drafted 26th in the 2023 draft, and has accumulated 2 sacks, 31 solo tackles, and 26 assists. Overall, he’s obviously not here to replace or be Quinnen, rather, try and fill up his spot, and maybe the Jets can develop him into a solid player going forward. He’s a good run-stopper, and the Jets have had a bad run defense the past two seasons. Quinnen had requested out privately a few times, and yet, never started any drama, never complained publicly. Quinnen, and Sauce are both class and wish them the best.

Overview/My thoughts

It seems the Jets are looking to have a complete overhaul, and try and build the team through the draft, and get younger. The Jets are in prime position to trade for a young, proven star also, maybe a new Quarterback can be in play depending on who requests out? Maybe a new star defensive player like a Myles Garrett? We will see. The Jets want to get younger, and the 2027 draft is looking stacked with names like Arch Manning, Jeremiah Smith, and many more. The Jets maxed out on both trades, and suddenly, their future is looking bright again, but will they execute correctly? That’s the question we’ve been asking for fourteen years.
