Get To Know Charlie Roumeliotis And His Thoughts On What He Would Do With Pick 3

Charlie

Today I spoke with Charlie Roumeliotis, Chicago Blackhawks studio host for WGN Radio. Charlie is very well known and respected in the Hawks community. His account on X has over 32 thousand followers while also starring on a podcast called “Blackhawks Breakaway”. He breaks news while also suppling very knowledgeable news behind the scenes. Anytime I have heard Charlie’s name brought up it’s been praise, and today we get to find out more about him.

For the first question I asked Roumeliotis “Most memorable goal you have ever witnessed” Charlie replied with “Man, that’s a tough one. So many to choose from. The one that popped into my mind just now is Patrick Kane’s hat trick goal against Vancouver in Game 6 of the 2009 playoffs. I was sitting in the 300 level, and I’d never seen the United Center that wired. It was pure bedlam. The building was on fire leading up to the goal, too. Just an unforgettable moment”. Hearing him bring up this certain goal sparks a ton of awesome memories, while I was only about 5 years old I have watched this certain goal millions of times.

The second question as I knew Charlie is a Illinois native and a Blackhawks fan I questioned him “Favorite player growing up” He replied with “As a Greek kid, I naturally gravitated toward Chris Chelios; no brainer there haha. Tony Amonte was a close second. No. 10 became my favorite number because of him. He was so fast. I also had a soft spot for Jocelyn Thibault. Total workhorse during those dark years, and to this day, his mask is still my all-time favorite. If I had to choose one all-time, Patrick Kane has overtaken them all as my favorite player, both to watch and to cover once I got into the media. I still make time to watch him whenever I can”. Some unreal names mentioned here, like most Hawks fans Patrick Kane is at the top of Charlie’s list.

For the final question and what many people are wondering leading up to the NHL draft July 27th I asked Charlie “What would you do or who would you take at 3” Charlie stated “I’d take Anton Frondell or Caleb Desnoyers. If either projects into a reliable two-way second-line center long-term, that’s a big win in my book. I’m a believer in building down the middle”. As the final days before the draft it seems Anton Frondell is the front runner to be the picked by the Blackhawks. As Charlie mentioned “building down the middle” which is a huge pillar for any championship team, which the Blackhawks aspire to become.
