Today I got a chance to ask Blackhawks 2024 First round pick a few questions. First off Marek was selected, 27th overall by the Blackhawks in this past draft. Marek currently plays for the Brantford Bulldogs of the OHL where he posted 36 Goals, 46 Assist for 82 Points. Marek will be reporting back to Brantford but suffered a shoulder injury during last season that he played through, it required surgery and will make him delayed to start the season. I can see Marek being a fan favorite for Chicago in a few years when he is in the NHL, he provides goal scoring and has bite to his game which Chicago fans love. This pick is gonna look great in a couple years.
I asked Marek 4 total questions, for the first one I asked who was your favourite player growing up and he responded with “My favourite player growing up was Patrick Kane” No shock as Patrick Kane was one of the most influential players to this past decade, oh and I think us Blackhawks fans know 88 very well. For the next Question I asked him who was your favourite team growing up, Marek responded with “My favourite team growing up was Toronto Maple Leafs” since he is from Ontario, Canada many people love the Leafs. My favourite question I asked him was who he compares his game too, he said “I compare my game to Hyman” That is a great comparison in my eyes, as Hyman and Vanacker show they will go to the dirty areas to score goals, Hyman also scored 50 this year so we love that. For the last question I asked him what is his favourite part of Chicago and he replied with a great answer “Favourite part of Chicago is the culture the Blackhawks have!” This is great to see as a young kid coming into a team already feels this way. Blackhawks fans love their players, and will support them through anything, part of the reason players always say Chicago has the best fans in the world! Really enjoyed talking to Marek and am excited to see how great he will be!
