
Guentzel likely Signing with Tampa Bay
This morning the Carolina Hurricanes traded the signing rights of Jake Guentzel to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a 2025 3rd round pick. It’s likely that Guentzel signs in Tampa, who cleared cap space during the draft.

Utah Bolsters its defense
Utah acquired Mikhail Sergachev from Tampa Bay during yesterday’s draft, they acquired him for JJ Moser, Connor Geekie, and 2 draft picks. Utah is in search of defensive help, and a two-time cup champion helps. They also acquired John Marino from the Devils, who are likely signing Brett Pesce.

Trouba Trade dead?
It was reported that the New York Rangers wanted to trade Jacob Trouba to clear cap space, and the Detroit Red Wings emerged as a suitor, Trouba’s hometown team. Trouba is said to be taking it very hard that the Rangers want to part with him. No trade has materialized yet.

Stamkos going to Market
When Tampa Bay traded all of Mikhail Sergachev’s $8.5 million cap hit, most assumed it would be used to sign back Steven Stamkos, but it seems that their pursuit of Jake Guentzel is a priority. Tampa Bay will also be inking an extension with Victor Hedman on July 1 when eligible.

Toronto acquires Chris Tanev’s UFA Rights
Yesterday the Maple Leafs acquired Tanev’s rights from the Dallas Stars and are likely to sign him to a long term deal. It may go to 7 or 8 years in an effort to lower his AAV.
