The deal that the Yankees have been negotiating for the last few weeks is completed at long last. The Yankees are acquiring Superstar outfielder Juan Soto and OF Trent Grisham from San Diego in exchange for RHP Michael King, top RHP Prospect Drew Thorpe, RHP Jhony Brito, RHP Randy Vasquez, and C Kyle Higahsioka.

We knew the Yankees were interested in Soto from the beginning, and acquiring him helps the Yankees offence significantly. Getting a dual on-base and left handed power bat to hit in the same lineup as Aaron Judge is something Yankee fans have dreamed of. And Soto at 25 years old is accomplished, and will fit right into the Yankees lineup.

The haul for Soto was definitely steep. Michael King was a nice surprise to end the season as he showed consistently while being a starter. As for pitching prospect Drew Thorpe, he won Minor League pitcher of the year in his first year pitching professionally. He was very good in the Yankees system in 2023, but when it comes to Juan Soto, you have to get that type of deal done.

The acquisition of Juan Soto makes the Yankees significantly better, and along with acquiring OF Alex Verdugo from Boston on Tuesday, the Yankees have gotten the 2 left handed OF that Brian Cashman said he wanted at the GM Meetings.
Lineup with Soto/Verdugo:
LF Alex Verdugo/Trent Grisham
RF Juan Soto
CF Aaron Judge
1B Anthony Rizzo
2B Gleyber Torres
DH Giancarlo Stanton
3B DJ LeMahieu
C Austin Wells/Jose Trevino
SS Anthony Volpe
