Mets are reportedly showing “Strong Interest” in this soon to be posted KBO Outfielder

The New York Mets are reportedly showing “Strong Interest” in OF Jung Hoo Lee according to USA Today. With outfield being one of the many needs for the Mets it wouldn’t be a bad thing to add a 25 year old that can become a staple in the lineup and the outfield for many years to come. Lee, 25, is expected to be posted on Monday, December 3rd. Lee has a projected contract of 5 years, $50 million according to MLB Trade Rumors. Many have power concerns for the young Korean outfielder as his highest career ISO was a .226, which was also the best season of his young career, but that has not stopped him from dominating the KBO just look at these numbers from a “down year”:

Jung Hoo Lee’s 2023 Stats:

⁃ 387 PAs

⁃ .318/.406/.455

⁃ .396 wOBA

⁃ 2.13 BB/K

⁃ 139 wRC+

These numbers don’t even come close to his 2022 campaign where he posted 113 RBIs and a 175 wRC+. And a big reason he will be highly coveted this winter is not just because of his bat, because of his all around abilities, has plus hit tool, plus speed and is a plus fielder which the Mets can use as their -16 DRS and -7 OAA both rank in the bottom of the league, adding a glove like Lee’s to this outfield could be a very big plus. Lee could give the Mets an option to move Brandon Nimmo to a corner outfielder position to help make sure they can conserve his health. As the winter meetings get started we will all have to just wait and see this amounts to.
