It’s no secret that the Yankees struggled offensively this year. Finishing 82-80. They were reportedly ‘very interested’ in acquiring Cody Bellinger at the trade deadline. But the Cubs decided to go for it and take him off the trade block. The Yankees are without a doubt going to circle back on Bellinger this winter.

We’ve heard the storyline before. Bellinger wants to play for the same team that his dad won the World Series with. Though the good story is there, so is the fit. Bellinger’s mix of power and on base ability and good outfield defense would be a fantastic fit for the Yankees and in Yankee Stadium for the right price.

Bellinger would be a fantastic fit for the Yankees. With Domínguez sidelined, Bellinger can slot in as your starting CF until he returns. Bellinger’s offensive value is something the Yankees could definitely seek. With a weaker free agency class for position players than normal, Bellinger is likely to be the best non-Ohtani free agent available and could come at a steep price. But if the Yankees are serious about improving the lineup, Bellinger might have to be a must add.

Bellinger is the type of player the Yankees need in their lineup. Yes he can hit home runs, as he could run into 30+ playing in Yankee stadium, but he is also just a good player. Something the Yankees lacked last season in their lineup. Sporting combinations of Franchy Cordero, Willie Calhoun, and Jake Bauers. Bellinger would be a very stable option in the Yankees outfield if the Yankees were to sign him. However if the price exceeds more than $200 Million, the Yankees should not be in on him. The maximum i’d go is an 8-Year $170 Million deal.
Yankees lineup with Bellinger:
2B Gleyber Torres
RF Aaron Judge
CF Cody Bellinger
DH Giancarlo Stanton
1B Anthony Rizzo
3B DJ LeMahieu
SS Anthony Volpe
LF Everson Pereira
C Austin Wells
