Yesterday, the Milwaukee Bucks traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade that sent Dame Lillard to the Bucks. Portland however, openly stated that they are gonna work to trade Holiday. That leaves the question, do the Knicks make a push for the 33 year old guard? In the 2022-23 season, Holiday put up great numbers, averaging 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists, which ranked ninth in the NBA. He did this while shooting 48% from the field. Holiday also averaged 1.3 steals per game. Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau would love a player like that in his rotation.
What does New York have to offer?
Well, the Knicks can probably offer more for Holiday than any team in the association can. They have 8 first rounders, Evan Fournier’s contract, and a lot of young assets, even though it wouldn’t cost that much due to Holiday’s contract. Holiday is currently on a four-year, $134 million deal that expires in 2025. If the Knicks can get Holiday, he’s almost perfect for the starting lineup and is almost perfect to start right next to Jalen Brunson. Not to mention he can also attract a star to come to MSG, and a move like this can make the Knicks immediate contenders for a championship. Do the Knicks make this move? Only time will tell.
