The Yankees went into Houston and swept the defending World Series champions in the Astros, after rolling out a lineup with the kids. Jasson Dominguez, Austin Wells, Everson Pereira, Oswald Peraza, and Oswaldo Cabrera, as well as Anthony Volpe all had an impact on this series. The Yankees after this series improved their record to 68-69. Sitting 8 games out of the third Wild Card spot, the path for the Yankees is not impossible to reach the playoffs.

Now, I do not expect the Yankees to surge to a 23-3 run and make the playoffs at a 91-71 record, however I do not believe the chances of this happening are zero. The Yankees outcome essentially comes down to their 4 game series against Boston, and their 6 games over two series against Toronto. In my mind, the Yankees need to win at least 8-9 of these games. They need to take advantage of the series against Detroit, Kansas City, Pittsburgh and stack up wins to try and get closer.

The Yankees are showing what 2024 could look like. The last time the Yankees Swept Houston before this weekend was in 2013. The Yankees called up Dominguez and Wells for this series, both made their presence known. Both are going to be huge parts of this team for 2024 and beyond, and if the kids went on a run and made the playoffs, it would be a great thing for this team.
