Mets To Call-Up Top Prospect From Triple-A Syracuse:

Multiple reports have surfaced stating that the Mets will be calling up top prospect Ronny Mauricio on Friday when the rosters expand to 28. It was unclear if the Mets would bring up Ronny Mauricio as the team and many prospect evaluators have worries about his approach and discipline at the plate, but at the end of the day his overall hit tool/power tool. His numbers makes it very tough for the organization to keep in Triple-A. A huge reason for this call up has been his recent hot streak, lighting Triple-A on fire during August:

Ronny Mauricio’s Stats In August:

.303/.373/.586

.959 OPS

0.52 BB/K

.283 ISO

8 SB

.406 wOBA

131 wRC+

The 22 year old posted great numbers in August, but had struggled after his phenomenal start to the season. But with the Mets way out of contention, and no worries about service time it was a smart call up to get a guy that the organization hopes can be an everyday player in the future some reps. He will likely play 2B or LF, as the primary shortstop has worked at finding a new position so he could find a path to an everyday role with the big league team.
