Yankees Call up Top Prospect amid losing streak

On Monday it was reported that Yankees top prospect outfielder Everson Pereira is going to be recalled from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes/Barre ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Nationals. The Yankees are giving him, Oswald Peraza, and eventually Austin Wells a chance to prove why they deserve to be apart of this team for 2024 and beyond.

Everson Pereira is going to be a very exciting player to watch. He does have a high strikeout rate, that’s always been his one flaw, But he has an insane power tool. He has 18 homers this year between Double-A and Triple-A, Pereira slashed .312/.386/.551 with a 130 wRC+. If Pereira can replicate anything close to that production, the Yankees will have themselves their long term left fielder. Pereira has solid defence in the outfield, he’ll definitely be a step up from the multitude of players the Yankees have put in that spot this season.

Pereira is one of the more exciting prospects in the system, and he could be apart of this pivotal point of the Yankees right now, as the Yankees look to find a core around Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole. By next season, guys in the pipeline along with Pereira, Wells, Peraza, Dominguez, Thorpe, along with an already established Anthony Volpe could be a huge part of the Yankees future. Cost effective players that *should* produce at an above average level could be very exciting come 2024.
