Yankees call up INF Peraza in a flurry of moves

On the off day Monday, it was reported from Jack Curry that the Yankees were calling up INF Oswald Peraza, and OF Everson Pereira, and calling up Jasson Dominguez to AAA. This is Oswald Peraza’s third time around this year, but the first time he was sent down due to no playing time, and the second time he was sent down for Aaron Judge. This time around, things are gonna be different. Peraza is expected to be an every day player, barring injury, same with Pereira.

Oswald Peraza has had a great season in the minor leagues, but in his short time in the big leagues, he’s struggled to find his footing, simply because he’s not getting consistent at bats. It was also reported that Peraza has been “going through some swing stuff”, and that he’s figured it out, and it shows, as he’s been crushing the ball lately in AAA. Peraza has barely played in the majors this season, getting 64 at bats. In AAA, he’s hitting .268 with 14 homers, 36 RBIs and a .846 OPS in 63 games. His defense is a huge bright spot in his game, which he’s actually showed in the majors.

What could the Yankees lineup look like after September 1st?

If the Yankees would shut down 1B Anthony Rizzo, it would help out Oswald Peraza in getting playing time, as DJ LeMahieu would switch to first base. Austin Wells is expected to get the call in September too, as he doesn’t have a 40-man spot right now. Potential lineup:

LeMahieu 1B
Judge RF/DH
Torres 2B
Stanton DH/RF
Pereira LF

Bader CF
Volpe SS
Peraza 3B
Wells C
