The Giants and Saquon Barkley have talked for a lot of the off-season on contracts, and they’ve come to disagreements. This deal has until Monday, July 17th at 4 PM EST to get done, or Barkley will be forced to play on the franchise tag. Or will he?
Barkley’s status for Week 1 in doubt if contract talks aren’t successful
As reports have said previously, Saquon Barkley very well may not play Week 1 Sunday night against the Cowboys if Barkley’s camp and the Giants don’t agree on a contract. Reports have come out that have said NYG offered Barkley a contract that had a signing bonus less than the franchise tag, itself. Barkley declined, and rightfully so. The 26 year old Pro Bowler put up his best season, putting up 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also added another 2 scores in the NFC Wild Card game against Minnesota.

Will Barkley end up staying?
Only time will tell. The two-time Pro Bowler and former Offensive Rookie of the Year has made it known that he “Wants to be a New York Giant for life.” The bigger story will be tomorrow, will Barkley sign or will he sit out?
