Over the last few days, we have heard rumblings and reports that the Angels could make superstar Shohei Ohtani available for trade ahead of the trade deadline, and the Yankees were reported as the “Most Motivated” To possibly get a deal done, what could a trade look like for Ohtani?

First lets check in on Ohtani in the middle of what will be his 2nd MVP Season:
Hitting Stats:
89 G
398 PAs
.302 AVG
.387 OBP
.663 SLG
1.065 OPS
181 wRC+
32 HRs
4.3 fWAR
Pitching Stats:
17 Starts
100.1 IP
3.32 ERA
4.02 FIP
32.4 K%
1.7 fWAR
Ohtani, far and away the best player in baseball, if he becomes available, almost every team would be trying to acquire him, however I believe the Yankees can offer the Angels a very lucrative package of a mixture of MLB Players and top organizational prospects, and the Yankees can give that up.

What could a package look like? To clarify, I don’t believe the Yankees would trade for Ohtani unless they are 100% certain that he will sign an extension with them, otherwise they’d likely wait until free agency to sign him outright. Here is what I believe a package for Ohtani could look like:
Yankees Get: SP/DH Shohei Ohtani
Angels Get: INF Oswald Peraza, LHP Nestor Cortes, OF Jasson Dominguez (#1), OF Spencer Jones #3), INF Trey Sweeney (#5), RHP Will Warren (#7)
I believe a package something similar to this could get a deal for Ohtani done, the Angels would completely restock their farm system, and get multiple ready to contribute MLB Players.
Potential Yankees Lineup/Rotation With Ohtani (When Healthy):
SS Anthony Volpe
RF Aaron Judge
DH Shohei Ohtani
LF Giancarlo Stanton
1B Anthony Rizzo
2B Gleyber Torres
3B DJ LeMahieu
CF Harrison Bader
C Jose Trevino
Starting Rotation:
RHP Gerrit Cole
RHP Shohei Ohtani
LHP Carlos Rodón
RHP Domingo Germán
RHP Clarke Schmidt
The possible addition of Ohtani is something that the Yankees should take advantage of if they are able to retain him. If the rumors are true, we could see a huge force come to the Yankees in Ohtani, acquiring him could completely change the narrative of the entire organization.
