Could The Mets Move This Outfielder If Things Continue South?

Mark Canha who is in a contract year, could be on the chopping block at the deadline if the Mets’ can right the ship, and get back on track. We will have to wait and see. The big question is, should the Mets’ move Mark Canha and bring in low-tier prospects? I believe they should as he is in a contract year and they should shop him around and see what they could get in a trade package for the veteran outfielder. Let’s look at Canha’s stats.

Mark Canha’s 2023 Stats:

196 ABs

.240/.335/.383

5 HRs

17.0% K%

10.4% BB%

37.9% HardHit%

.325 xwOBA

104 wRC+

0.3 fWAR.

On his current contract he makes $13.3M. The Mets could get a decent prospect return just like the Eduardo Escobar deal, and net some decent prospects in return. I’d love to see the Mets try and acquire a power hitting prospect, and possibly get a low-end pitching prospect.
