Mets Option Struggling Starter To Triple-A Syracuse After Bad Start.

The Mets optioned RHP Tylor Megill to Triple-A Syracuse after his sluggish start down in Houston. Megill has had a up and down season with the organization as he hasn’t been able to consistently go on the bump and give the Mets’ good starts at a good clip. It’s been a roller coaster. Some starts are great, most starts are just not good. Let’s look at some stats that could’ve called for the promotion:

Megill’s 2023 Stats:

15 GS

71.1 IP

17.7% K%

11.9% BB%

5.30 SIERA

5.17 ERA

+5 Run Value (Four-Seam Fastball)

90 Stuff+

Just not good enough numbers to stay in a struggling rotation. Unknown who will take his spot (if I had to take a guess, I’d guess Joey Lucchesi.) Hopefully the Megill can fix his command down in the minors, and he could be apart of a trade deadline package if the Mets’ don’t view him as a long term rotation piece.
