Yankees Prospect Roundup

The Yankees have one of the better farm systems in baseball, topped with Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells, however today we are going to go over some of the more lesser known players down in the pipeline for the Yankees.

INF Jared Serna – Low-A Tampa

Serna has been one of the big breakouts in the Yankees system this year, in his first full season of playing for Tampa, has truly broken out. He is due for a promotion but there is no telling when he will get it.

Though there is concern over Serna’s size (5’6), He definitely has the tools to rise through the system. His plate discipline mixed with his on base skills is the makings of a very good player. He has a very high OBP despite a walk rate under 10% (8.6%). He will likely be promoted to Hudson Valley at some point this year, and he could be a very good player if his development continues on the current path he is on.

RHP Chase Hampton – Double-A Somerset

Chase Hampton was a 2022 draft pick by the Yankees, and he has already risen to the Double-A level after lighting up High-A Hudson Valley. Hampton is already one of the premier arms in the Yankees system.

His numbers speak for themself. Sporting one of the best Strikeout to walk ratios in all of the minor leagues, Hampton has quickley risen to Somerset, where he’ll surely be tested. Hampton’s fastball/curveball/changeup arsenal has shown to be very effective for him thus far. Somerset is going to be a big test for him, and if he pitches well there, we could see him in Triple-A or even the major league level as soon as 2024.

INF Keiner Delgado – CPX League

Keiner Delgado, along with prospects like Roderick Arias and Brandon Mayea are among the prospects in the Florida Coast League for the Yankees. And he has been very good so far, the 19 year old prospect should be getting a promotion to the Low-A Tarpons at any point this summer.

Though we are going off a very small sample size, Delgado has shown great on base skill through this year and throughout last year in the Dominican Summer League (24.4% BB% in 238 PAs). Delgado should be in Tampa by the end of the year. Though a bit on the older side for not having played in Low-A, at 19 years old, Delgado could be a fast riser through the Yankees system.
