Laviolette has taken 3 different teams to the Stanley cup finals, and has won once, He is 248-143-60 in his coaching career and in his playing career he played 12 professional games for the Rangers. Peter’s impressive resumé, which includes winning a Stanley Cup and advancing to the Final with three different teams, has made him one of the most respected coaches in the league. As we move forward in our goal to consistently contend for the Stanley Cup, I am confident that Peter is the right head coach to lead our team.” A big hope is that Laviolette can reach out and unlock the young “kids” of NYR to their full potential. Alexis Lafreniere, Kaapo Kakko, Filip Chytil could all have breakout seasons under Laviolette. It’s a three-year contract, per report.
