The Yankees are getting a huge boost to the starting rotation with the return of Luis Severino on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds. Severino is expected to start today after missing about the first 2 months of the season with a lat strain. And the Yankees get him back at a big time too. Winning 10 of their last 13 games, the Yankees could use a boost and Severino will provide it.

With as many injuries that the starting pitching has dealt with, such as injuries to Carlos Rodón, Luis Gil, and Frankie Montas, the return of Luis Severino is going to be huge for the pitching staff.

Getting Severino back is going to be huge for the Yankees rotation, who have been struggling with Jhony Brito in a rotation spot. Brito is definitely not MLB ready, as his breaking pitches are not nearly as developed as his 4-seamer and his sinker, but he’s a big part of the Yankees pitching depth. Severino is just one piece of the puzzle. Players such as Rodon, Stanton, Donaldson, and Kahnle among many others that the Yankees will get back in the near future at some point during the season.
