After falling down 3-1 in the series against Miami after game 4, the Knicks close out a close game 5 win in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd. They force this series back to Miami for a Game 6. The Knicks are in search of being the 14th team in NBA History to come back from a 3-1 Deficit. Most recently Denver coming back against the Clippers in 2020.
Quentin Grimes was an absolute Warrior in game 5. One of two Knicks in that game to play all 48 minutes, the other being Jalen Brunson. Grimes was mainly kept in for his lockdown defence, he contained Jimmy Butler for the majority of the game. Including a key play late in the 4th quarter, after being injured Grimes hobbled up to guard Butler, forced a steal which led to points to seal the win at the Garden.

RJ Barrett has showed up the entire Postseason. 26 points in game 5 with good defence. As we know, Barrett has definitely had his ups and downs this season, his slow start then he found his stride before going cold. I’m not giving up on Barrett. He’s only 22 years old, and we have seen that he has the tools to be a very successful scorer in the NBA. When his shot is falling, he is a lethal option alongside Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle.

Speaking of Julius Randle, he had a much needed bounce back game. Randle, having struggled with injury and downright bad play throughout the Playoffs, this bounceback is huge, and if he can replicate that performance tonight in Game 6, I think the Knicks will be headed back to the Garden. Should the Knicks complete the comeback, they’ll face the Game 7 Winner of the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers.
