In the back end of the first round, the main players the Bills were targeting all started to go off the board. Jaxon Smith-Njigba went to Seattle, Quentin Johnston to the Chargers, Zay Flowers to Baltimore, and Jordan Addison to Minnesota respectively. And after the Jaguars traded back with the Giants to pick 25, Brandon Beane began to work the phones.
Trading pick 27, and a 4th rounder this year, the Bills jump ahead of the Cowboys to get their last target at the spot. z’sselect Dalton Kincaid out of Utah, a player the Bills likely didn’t expect to be on the board, much less trade up for. However the Bills get an immediate Day 1 contributor alongside Dawson Knox, I think this is a great value pick by Beane, who hasn’t selected an offensive player since Josh Allen was drafted in 2018. Kincaid adds to the Bills offence in a big way, and they may not be done yet.

The Bills went with the player that was clearly the highest on their board, and I see him being the day one starter at the tight end position. He’s a huge receiving threat, though getting comparisons to Chiefs TE Travis Kelce, I wouldn’t go that far. Yes Kincaid is a great offensive talent, it’s difficult to compare him to a all-time great. Kincaid can line up in the slot, on the boundary, he can be a very big impact player for the Bills and i’m very excited to see his rookie season.
