
Mets’ Grab 2 Of 3 Against Padres’, Oakland Preview.
Mets grabbed the series against the Padres in the early week. Now that the series with the Padres is over the Mets’ will head west for a west coast road trip, they will take on the Athletics, Dodgers, Giants, in that order, the road trip will start Friday in Oakland. Now lets get to the series recap.
GAME 1

Max Scherzer vs Yu Darvish, the opener of the wild card of the past year, where the Padres killed Scherzer. Tonight was different. It started off slow which has been a theme with Mets’ game this season. Both teams early had a couple base runners but nothing significant until the bottom half of the third where the Mets’ got Nimmo on 2nd, Lindor on 1st. Jeff McNeil would rip one down the line and the Mets would grab the early lead 2-0. Then both pitchers dealt, Scherzer went for 5 innings and pitched 1 hit 0 run baseball. Darvish would struggle which is rare against the Mets, he’s always been really solid against the Mets. Bats went silent until the bottom half of the 7th where Escobar scored Canha on a Sac Fly. And later in the inning Lindor caught one low in the zone and ripped it down the line and that would score Nimmo, Guillorme. Making 5-0 Mets’. There was no more runs after that. Scherzer, Curtiss, Smith, Robertson, Ottavino would dominate the Padres’ lineup holding them to just 2 hits in Monday’s series opener.

GAME 2

Again started off as most Mets’ games have, slow starts. Peterson started for the Mets while Weathers started for the Padres. Both had good outings against the respective lineups. Bats were silent until the bottom half of the 4th where Mark Canha score Lindor on a sac fly to right. 1-0 Mets. Than top 4, Manny Machado lined one to left and scored 2 runs off of David Peterson. Campusano, Dixon would score making it 2-1 Padres. It was not a bad start for Peterson as he would throw 5 innings give up 2 runs and strike out 6. Weathers also threw 5 giving up 1 run but only striking out 3. Bats were silent again all the way till the top half of the 8th, where Zander Bogaerts would put one in the left field seats with Campusano on again. 4-1 Padres. The Mets wouldn’t go out without a fight. It started off with Alonso walking, Canha would K, McNeil walked, Pham drove in Alonso making it 4-2 with him on 2nd and McNeil on 3rd. Nido would pitch hit and ground out to the pitcher. Álvarez would bat against Hader and force a 7 pitch at-bat, but at the end of the day he went down swinging. Mets would have Raley, Santana, Denyi Reyes appear in the game.
Final Score: 4-2 Padres
GAME 3

The rubber match of the 3 game series between two juggernaut type teams, the Mets and the Padres. Mets would have Megill start, the Padres would have Snell start. Top of the 1st, Machado would walk and Soto would launch one into the right field seats making it 2-0 Padres early. Then the bottom half of the 2nd, a mistake by Soto would result in a Nimmo RBI double scoring Pham. 2-1 Padres. Then the very next time the Mets’ came up to bat, Lindor would lead off the bottom half of the 3rd with a tank just staying fair making it 2-2. Both Megill, Snell would lock it down for the time being. Bottom 5, Alonso comes up and launched one deep to left center and over the fence making it 3-2 Mets, Alonso leads the league with 6 homers. Megill would throw five inning, strikeout 3, and only allow 3 hits, and didn’t allow a run after the Soto homer. Snell would throw 5 innings, give up 3 earned runs, 4 total, he would strike out 5 but limit the Mets to only 6 hits. Nimmo would single in the bottom half of the 6th, scoring Escobar. 4-2 Mets. Bottom 7, Pham with a 2 out single would score Alonso and increase the Mets’ lead to 5-2. Raley, Smith, Robertson, Ottavino would all appear in the game.
Final Score: Mets 5-2
Mets’ will now travel to the west coast to play Oakland, it will be a 3 game series and here are the probable pitchers:
