Though it’s very early in the season, however, college baseball is underway, and the Yankees could have some targets very high on their draft boards. Their drafting has been especially better from 2019 to now, here’s the Yankees draft picks since 2019:
2019: SS Anthony Volpe
2020: C Austin Wells
2021: SS Trey Sweeney
2022: OF Spencer Jones
Great talents there. The Yankees current shortstop as long as some other top prospects in the Yankees farm system, were going to talk about just a few players that the Yankees could be high on headed into the draft and why their fits could make sense long term in this organization.

C/OF Kyle Teel – Virginia
Teel is player that the Yankees are likely very interested in. His great left handed power and plate discipline are two tools that the Yankees could be enamoured by. Versatility is a factor as well, playing catcher and outfield while at Virginia, could entice the Yankees.

Teel is a guy the Yankees could use long term assuming he pans out, Teel is performing great this season and is likely skyrocketing up teams draft boards. That being said, if Teel were to fall to the Yankees, I have a hard time believing they would pass on him.

1B/OF Nolan Schanuel – Florida Atlantic
Schanuel is one of the best offensive talents in this drsft class. I’d be shocked if the Yankees passed on him. He has a higher chance to fall to them at pick 26. He’d be a very strong pick for Brian Cashman and could man the future at first base.

Schanuel has amazing plate discipline. With the elite K-BB Ratio, along with a great raw power tool, Schanuel has the makings of a great player. He’ll likely land at first base long term as his speed may not be good enough to stay in the outfield. He would be a huge boost to the Yankees farm system, and I think he’s the type of player who could potentially skyrocket through the minor leagues and make his debut in less than 2 years.
The draft is far away, but Teel and Schanuel are two great college players who could be a good fit for the Yankees at pick #26. Both would be great picks, I would lean towards Schanuel as my preferred pick.
