The Yankees lost a thriller today in Baltimore, 7-6. They started the game off by going down 4-0, and Clarke Schmidt struggled mightily. His offense picked him up though, as Franchy Cordero hit a three-run homer and Oswaldo Cabrera hit a two-run double to come all the way back and give the Yanks the lead, 5-4. Baltimore would then score 3 runs to take the lead 7-5. The Yankees would keep battling back, as a Cabrera RBI Single would then make it 7-6. Runners left on would come to back to bite the Yankees, as they dropped the game with a man on third in the ninth inning.

Prior to todays game, there were reports that Josh Donaldson would get placed on the 10 day injured list. Donaldson got hurt in Wednesday’s game against the Phillies, when he hit a fly ball and noticeably hurt something in his hamstring. He was pulled from that game.
If Donaldson is shelved, should the Yankees call up Peraza?
Oswald Peraza has started off very well in AAA Scranton this year. In his first six games, he’s hitting .292 with an OBP of .393, also having 7 hits, 2 RBIs, and 5 stolen bases. He’s been very good so far.
Do not panic about 21 year old Anthony Volpe.
Anthony Volpe hasn’t started off very hot, but do not panic about the young franchise shortstop. Volpe is 1 for his last 15 with 6 Ks, and 3 for 21 overall. Even though this has been happening, it’s only in 7 games and he’s still adapting to MLB pitching. Look for Volpe to heat up soon enough, as the Yankees are facing a bad pitcher in Cole Irvin. Some Yankees are hitting him well lifetime, as the top 4 of the Yankee lineup (LeMahieu, Judge, Rizzo, Stanton) are hitting him well. They all have 3 homers and 8 RBIs combined against Irvin.
