Mets’ Take Down Marlins 9-3

Mets home opener you can say went to plan as they took down Miami 9-3. Bats for both teams were silent but the Mets’ kept getting on via the walk. Even though they didn’t capitalize till the bottom half of the 3rd when Canha got a RBI walk which would be Marlins’ starter Edward Cabrera would only last 2.2 IP as he threw 85 pitches in that span, he walked 7 Met batters. Brazobán came in for the Marlins’ in the bottom half of the 3rd to take over for Cabrera. Meanwhile the Mets’ are still looking for their first hit. Vogelbach stepped in with bases loaded and 2 outs, he chopped one to 2nd but a miscommunication by the Marlins’ infield gave Vogelbach an infield single making it 2-0 Mets’. Mets didn’t get anymore runs in that inning. Bottom half of the 4th Pete Alonso ripped a single through the hole over at third base scoring Tomas Nido, making it 3-0 Mets. Bats went silent during the middle innings then in the bottom half of the 6th Marte launched a 419 ft bomb to left center field making it 4-0 Mets. Tylor Megill’s day was a great one his final line:

A great day for Tylor Megill getting the job done and not allowing a run, and keeping the walks down and the ball down. Adam Ottavino came in the top half of the 7th for the Mets’ and had a quick 1-2-3 inning. Then in the bottom half Marlins LHRP Tanner Scott couldn’t hit the zone and walked 2 and hit 1 loading it up for Escobar, who grounded into a force out that scored Jeff McNeil making it 5-0 Mets. Then Nido hit a fly ball to left it was caught but it was deep enough to get home a run. Escobar tried to tag and get to 2nd and he got caught and was out ending the 7th but the run did count and it made the game 6-0 Mets’. Dennis Santana, came in for Ottavino and started off nicely getting a quick 2 outs but then the Marlins got to him with 2 long at bat walks and then Garrett Cooper launched one to center making it 6-3. Raley would then enter the game. Chisholm Jr would hammer one back up the middle, but it wouldn’t matter as the next at-bat García would ground out to Lindor. In the bottom half of the 8th the Mets star power started to shine, with Lindor and Alonso going back to back with the long ball, Lindor’s was a 2 run homer that went 400 ft, Alonso’s was a solo shot that went 403 ft. Denyi Reyes came in with a ton of run support in the 9th and got it done after a Segura single, he struck out Sanchez and then made Nick Fortes GIDP to end the ball game.
