Nets Assert Themselves Over Pistons, 123-108

The Nets improve to 44-36 with the win over the Pistons and move closer to a playoff spot, the only way they’d drop to the play in is if they lose their last 2 games and the Heat win their last three. The Nets play the Magic and 76ers, while the Heat play 76ers, Wizards, and Magic. If the 76ers beat the Heat tonight, the Nets will clinch the 6th seed, that game is at 7:30 pm. If the heat should win, the Nets will have to defeat the Magic on Friday to clinch.

Mikal Bridges did what he does best, shine. He scored 26 points in 38 minutes. He also had 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1 block. Shooting wise he left much to be desired, as he shot 10-26 from the field, and 2-11 from three, but he did go 4-5 from the free throw line. Though it was a bad day shooting wise, he led the team in scoring, and you’re gonna need him to do that if you want a shot to win in the playoffs.

Nic Claxton played very well too, with 19 points in 36 minutes. He had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks as well. He shot 8-9 from the field and 3-3 from the free throw line. Claxton has become one of the best centers in the game and has to be a DPOY finalist, if not the DPOY. Claxton is another guy you’re gonna need to lead you in the playoffs.

Not much went wrong for the Nets, as the bench contributed a decent amount. The bench scored 42 points, led by Joe Harris with 18. Harris had 2 rebounds as well and shot 6-9 from behind the arc and from the field. Day’Ron showed he can be a legit backup C again with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals in just 12 minutes.
