Omar Narváez has suffered a medium to high-grade calf strain, he will be heading to the IL, recovery time is usually 8-9 weeks barring any setbacks. Narváez joined the Mets’ in the off-season on a one-year contract with a player option for 2024. He started off his season pretty well going 4 for 14 with 2 walks and 2 RBIs. Mets’ top prospect and #2 prospect in baseball Francisco Àlvarez according to MLB Pipeline, will be active Friday. We will have to wait and see if Mets’ manager Buck Showalter gives him any playing time Friday and in the future. He has played decent to start is 2023 season down in AAA ball, 4 for 16, 2 HR, 4 RBIs, .368 OBP, 1.056 OPS. Àlvarez is only 21 and has a “Major League Ready Bat” but his defense has been where the Mets’ have wanted more growth from so hence why he’s in AAA.
