Nets Pummel Heat, 129-100

In the most important game of the season the Nets did what they needed to, win. The Nets offense was firing on all cylinders today, and the defense was lock down. The Nets held the Heat to just 31 points in the whole second half, while the Nets scored 64 points in the second half. The Nets had 45 rebounds to the Heat’s 32, 8 turnovers to their 14, and outshot the Heat from the field and the 3 point line, shooting 49.4% to their 47.5% from the field and 45% to their 40% from three. With this win the Nets sweep the Heat in the season series going 3-0.

Cam Johnson has hopefully awoken from his slumber, in 25 minutes he put up 23 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. He shot 9-13 from the field and 5-8 from three. Defensively, he had a steal. This was huge to see from CJ, if he keeps this up the Nets will have little to no problem holding the 6th seed in the East.

Mikal Bridges led the scoring today with 27 points despite shooting 7-19 from the field and 3-9 from three. Bridges had his best playmaking game as a Net thus far, having 7 assists. Claxton put up yet another double double today, with 10 rebounds and 14 points. Smith played pretty well with 6 rebounds and 12 points. Sumner got minutes again, and showed why he deserves more playing time with 12 points on 4-7 shooting from the field and 1-2 shooting from three in 15 minutes.

The Nets jumped back into the 6th seed with their win over the Heat, and now sit 0.5 games over the Heat, 3 games over the Hawks, 4 over the Raptors, and 4.5 over the Bulls. They sit just 1.5 games behind the 5 seeded Knicks as well. The Nets are back in action tonight against the Magic at 6:00 PM EST
