Panarin, Shesterkin Propel Rangers to 2-1 win

Igor Shesterkin (31) and Adam Fox (23) hug after beating Carolina Thursday night.

The Rangers won a huge game tonight, well fought, well earned, and got themselves within 4 points of a second place spot in the Metro, and 6 points of first place in the Metro division. How did the Rangers win? It all starts out with Igor Shesterkin making some huge saves out of the gate. Sebastian Aho made it 1-0 Hurricanes early, but Igor Shesterkin was lights out after that. Artemi Panarin received a nice feed from Mika Zibanejad and sniped one home, made it a 1-1 game. In the third period, 4:01 in, Adam Fox got a slick feed from Artemi Panarin, and went top shelf on Fred Andersen to make it 2-1 Rangers. That would go on to be the GWG as the Rangers closed it out.

Artemi Panarin (10) celebrating his goal in the second period.

Igor Shesterkin was absolutely money once again tonight, and was maybe the biggest reason the Rangers won today. Scoring opportunity after scoring opportunity, Igor Shesterkin responded with big save after big save. The reigning Vezina winner stopped 29/30 shots faced, and posted a .967 SV%. Another amazing performance for Shesterkin. He improved to 33-12-7.

⭐️: Igor Shesterkin, 29 saves, .967 SV%

⭐️⭐️: Artemi Panarin, 1 goal, 1 assist, +1

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sebastian Aho, 1 goal, -1

My personal ⭐️: The Rangers penalty killing unit, which they were 3/3 today, and they are now 27/29 in in their last 29 chances. That unit has really improved over the season, led by Jimmy Vesey, who’s really been a penalty killing specialist this season.
