Isles Beat Sharks 4-1, Retake Top Wild Card Spot

The Isles absolutely crushed the San Jose Sharks. A huge game to get 2 points. After the Penguins got obliterated by the New York Rangers, the Isles capitalized and retook the #1 wild card spot.

Pierre Engvall has been such a good acquisition by Lou Lamoriello. In seven games since being traded, he has three goals and two assists for five points. Such a steal from a team like Toronto who just gave a player of his caliber away like this. The Isles made a great move here and should look to keep him here long term.

Standings Update

At this point, the Wild Card race is down to the Islanders, Penguins, and Panthers. With just 11 games to go on the Isles schedule, they need to capitalize as much as they can if they don’t want to face Boston in the first round (Carolina is no easy team either.) The Isles are well-coached and well-disciplined. As we’ve seen in previous years when they make the playoffs, absolutely anything can happen. Including un-seeding the top teams in the Playoffs.
