Bills Busy On First Day of Free Agency

The Bills and Brandon Beane had a decent first day of free agency, though losing Pro-Bowl LB Tremaine Edmunds to Chicago, the Bills are still in a good place, and are far from done this off-season.

Protecting Josh Allen

The Bills signed G Connor McGovern to a 3-Year $21 Million contract, this is a very good move for the Bills. Replacing veteran Rodger Saffold with a younger and more effective replacement, the Bills are closer to fortifying their offensive line. The main spot that still needs notable improvement is the Right Tackle spot, which can be addressed via the draft.

Resignings/Restructures

Today, after RB/PR Nyheim Hines took a pay cut, and LB Matt Milano agreed to an extension which gave the Bills cap space, LB Tyler Matakevich resigned to a 1 year deal, as did Punter Sam Martin on a 3 year deal.

Rumor Mill/Potential Fits

After Tremaine Edmunds left for Chicago, the Bills are exploring the linebacker market. Their main options right now being Lavonte David formerly of Tampa Bay, and Bobby Wagner formerly of Los Angeles. David would be the better fit based on cost, so the Bills could have more cap space.

Reuniting the Cook’s?

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook, brother of Bills RB James Cook, has been involved in trade rumors this off-season, and reportedly “an AFC Team is close to acquiring him.” Reuniting the Cook brothers would absolutely be an electric pairing. With the Bills needing to create cap space however, it’s one of a multitude of offensive possibilities
