Isles Win 4-3 in Overtime Comeback

Oh Captain, My Captain

The Isles led the comeback with captain Anders Lee, who had two goals in yesterday’s win against the Penguins. Lee has done a great job filling in on the top line for an injured Oliver Wahlstrom this season. As the Isles grab a crutial game and sweep the season series against the Penguins.

Bo Knows

Bo Horvat has been such a steady presence for the Islanders since he’s been acquired, and especially since line-mate Mat Barzal went down with injury. Horvat is definitely a great goal scorer but so far with the Isles his biggest impact has been his playmaking, and his presence on Penalty Kills. The Islanders and us fans alike should be very happy is going to be here long term.

Pageau and Clutterbuck Getting close

Cal Clutterbuck and Jean-Gabriel Pageau are both very close to returning, as they travelled with the team to Pittsburgh and participated in practice. Adding them both back and you would probably see young F Simon Holmstrom out of the lineup at that point. He hasn’t been the same since his injury.

Wild Card Race

The Islanders cement themselves as the top wild card last night, and 6 points ahead of Ottawa. Which is a very good sign. This Islanders team is starting to play like those under Barry Trotz, and have taken it to a new level over the last few weeks since Barzal’s injury. The final spot in the Metro is definitely not out of the realm of possibility with the Rangers recent struggles, and it could be an opportunity for the Islanders.
