Among the Bills pending Unrestricted Free Agents, LB Tremaine Edmunds and S Jordan Poyer are the two main pieces headed to free agency after not reaching contract extensions, and the Bills opting against using the Franchise tag on either of them.
The Case against not tagging Edmunds
The Franchise Tag for linebackers was worth more than $20 million this year; a price that I doubt GM Brandon Beane wanted to go near. Edmunds, 24, is an anchor on this team alongside fellow linebacker Matt Milano, I believe there is most definitely mutual interest of Edmunds returning to Buffalo, an ideal deal for both sides would be a 4-year ~$85 Million deal, with around $60 million being guaranteed.

Poyer’s time Up?
S Jordan Poyer has been a stable in Buffalo’s secondary for the last 5 years under Sean McDermott, but his future remains uncertain, as he enters free agency, the Bills aren’t expected to make an effort to retain him, with the All-Pro’s price tag being very high, and has expressed interest in other teams.
Beane Will make the Right Choice
I have faith that Brandon Beane will make the right choice, if you don’t have enough cap you can find ample replacements via free agency and the draft. Pending FAs include Germaine Pratt and Jonathan Jones as targets, LB Drew Sanders out of Arkansas and S Antonio Johnson out of Texas A&M could be viewed as potential replacements.
