Isles Acquire Pierre Engvall from Toronto

Leading up to Friday’s trade deadline, Lou Lamoriello saw the gaps in this team that needed to be filled. And after trading for Bo Horvat, the Isles grab a nice forward to make a final playoff push.

Engvall is a nice fit on the Isles, 21 points on 12 goals and 9 assists, the 26 year old provides depth for the Isles as they deal with a lot of injuries to key players such as Mat Barzal, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, and Oliver Wahlstrom among others. Engvall feels like a Lou Lamoriello acquisition, he’s not a superstar, but he can provide some nice play on the 2nd or 3rd line for the Islanders.

Isles Active in Talks

The Islanders though this is their 2nd trade of this trading period, they’ve been very active in trade discussions with other teams. They inquired on almost every big player who’s been moved or is going to be moved. They asked San Jose about Timo Meier before trading for Horvat, they asked Nashville about Tanner Jeannot before his trade to Tampa, they asked Chicago about Patrick Kane who wouldn’t wave his NTC for the Isles before being dealt to the crosstown rival rangers. They inquired with Arizona about Jakob Chychrun, who they have since not been involved with.

The final thing on the Islanders agenda should be to acquire a defenceman to play over Sebastion Aho. Ideally the Isles would’ve already been playing Samuel Bolduc over him, but the Isles should still go out and acquire a defenceman.
