Isles Win 4-0, Horvat prevails. East is Stacking up

Horvat a Beauty Shorthanded Goal

Bo Horvat shot the puck in between a defender’s legs and put it in for a goal to give the Isles a 1-0 lead, Alex Romanov’s 2nd goal of the year was a nice touch to extend the lead. This was as about as complete a game that the Isles have played all season.

Nelson is an Elite Scoerer

Brock Nelson connected on his 27th goal of the season, being on that 2nd line with Lee and Palmeri primarily, Nelson has been a key piece to this Islanders core over the last couple of years on Long Island.

Isles Navigating Multiple Key Injuries

The Islanders are navigating and still winning games against key opponents without a number of key players. F Mat Barzal, F Jean-Gabriel Pageau, F Oliver Wahlstrom, and F Cal Clutterbuck all are out indefinitely. No matter the outcome of this season, the Isles will be significantly better next year with those guys back, and a full year of Barzal alongside Wahlstrom and Horvat.

Semyon Varlomov recorded a shutout today, I can only think this only boosts his trade value for the upcoming deadline, there are no shortage of teams in need of Goaltending, and teams like the Los Angeles Kings could potentially be willing to part with a first round pick for the pending Unrestricted Free Agent.

Timo Meier Reportedly Acquired by Devils

San Jose Sharks F Timo Meier is reportedly being traded to the New Jersey Devils. One of key marquee moves this season alongside Vladimir Tarasenko to the Rangers, and of course Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders. The Eastern conference is going to be a dogfight for the rest of the season, and Timo Meier headed to New Jersey only intensifies the playoff race and rivalry between these Eastern Conference teams.
