Horvat’s first as an Islander, Isles win 4th straight

The Islanders yesterday won 4-0 against Seattle, and are tied with the Penguins in the Wild Card race with 57 points, there are a few takeaways from the Islanders win streak.

Horvat making Immediate Impact

Bo Horvat not only scored his first goal as an Islander yesterday, the shot he made it on I honestly don’t think any other winger on the roster makes. He has such a huge impact on this offence and will only help Mat Barzal, who has since moved to Wing.

Samuel Bolduc needs to Stay

Isles Defenceman Samuel Bolduc got his first NHL Goal last night, while also being a steady presence on defence alongside Scott Mayfield, when Alex Romanov returns, I think Bolduc needs to stay at the 3rd pair and not play Sebastion Aho, he’s been beaten time and time again and has seemed like a defensive liability for the Isles.

Isles primed for Playoff push

After trading for Horvat, the Islanders are primed for the playoff push right now, tied with Pittsburgh in the standings with multiple games left against them, and another Wild Card contender in the Washington Capitals. Lou Lamoriello might not be done this deadline either, reportedly checking in on Blackhawks F Patrick Kane and Blues F Vladimir Tarasenko.

Islanders Forward Hudson Fasching

Hudson Fasching has been a steady 4th line wing since being called up a few months ago, and has since definitely played into a full time spot. Playing alongside Casey Cizikas and Matt Martin, Fasching has thrived on the 4th line and the Islanders need to seriously consider signing him to an extension. He’s energized the 4th line.
