Tom Brady Retires… “For Good”

Saying goodbye to the greatest quarterback of all-time.

By. Bobby Thompson

It is Wednesday, February 1st, overcast, hazy and the sky full of fog. Tom Brady walks onto the cool morning sand of St. Pete Beach, Florida looking out at the Gulf of Mexico, sits down on the sand and tells the world he has made a decision on his future. At 8:12am eastern time, Tom pulls out his iPhone, presses record and tells the world that he is retiring from the NFL… For good

This comes one year to the day when Tom Brady announced that he was retiring from the game. “I’ll get to the point, I’m retiring, for good” Brady said in a video posted on his Twitter and Instagram pages. Holding back tears, he thanked his family, his friends, teammates and his competitors who supported him and allowed him to live his absolute dream. Brady’s emotions can be felt throughout the entire world.

Tom Brady retires from the NFL after 23 seasons with accolades that may never be matched ever again. He is the NFL’s all-time leader in wins (251), completions (7,753), passing attempts (12,050) passing yards (89,214) and passing touchdowns (649), Super Bowl appearances (10), Super Bowls wins (7) and Super Bowl MVP’s (5). Not only has Brady proved that he is the greatest quarterback of all-time, he may just be the greatest football player of all-time.

What is next for Tom Brady? He does have a lucrative deal with FOX to be their lead analyst and call games on Sundays, but the rest is still being determined. For now, we all can just let Tom celebrate his illustrious career and be a full-time dad, which is something he is looking forward to.

For me, Tom Brady means a lot to me and is the reason I got into football in the first place. Since I was young and Tom Brady came in for an injured Drew Bledsoe in 2001, He has been my favorite player. He is the reason I love the Patriots and always will. He has inspired me to strive for my goals everyday even if everyone thinks you will never achieve it. Tom, Thank you for everything you have done for the game of football on and off the field. You truly are the greatest of all-time. Enjoy retirement, you deserve it.
