Trevor Story to the Red Sox

It’s Official! Trevor Story has signed with the Boston Red Sox for 5 years $125 million. A great pickup for this team who needed a shortstop to help take them over the top and hopefully get them into a long run into the postseason. Trevor Story was the leader over in Colorado for the better part of six seasons with the team. He took over for former all-star SS Troy Tulowitzki when he was traded to the Blue Jays during the 2015 season.

Trevor is a two-time all-star, two-time silver slugger and finished in the top-12 in MVP from 2018 to 2020. Trevor is a guy who never misses the field, he has missed the injury bug and has played in over 87% of the season’s games in every year of his career.

With some people saying he’s coming off the worst year of his career, he still provided a great line of .251/.329/.471 with 142 games 24HR 75RBI 34 Doubles, and 20 Stolen Bases. Entering his 7th year in the majors and his age-29 year, Trevor is still in the prime of his career and has more than plenty of high leverage all-star caliber baseball left in the tank. Trevor finished the year exactly in the middle of the pack among starting shortstops (15th place) in fielding percentage with .975 and 14 errors. While that is not great, it is still a big upgrade for this team as he more than makes up for his fielding with his impressive hitting. He finished top 6 in SS in ABs, HR, top 5 in RBIs, top 8 in OBP. As long as he stays away from injury, he can be a valuable asset to the Red Sox. But only if he swears clear of the injury bug.
