DeMelo Resigns

The Winnipeg Jets ahead of free agency signed defenseman Dylan DeMelo to a 4 year deal holding a $4.9 Million AAV. The Jets are still seeking help on the Right side of their defense.

Casey Middelstadt Extends

The Avalanche extended Casey Middelstadt to a 3-year deal holding a $5.75 AAV. Colorado acquired Middelstadt at the deadline from Buffalo in exchange for Bowen Byram. Middelstadt became a key member of Colorado’s top six.

Chris Tanev Update

The Stars remain in talks with pending UFA Chris Tanev, who will generate plenty of interest on the open market. He’s likely to take this to July 1, Toronto is a notable team with reported interest.

Wings preparing for big splash

Detroit traded Jake Walman along with 2nd round pick to dump his cap hit, Detroit has a LOT of cap space, reports suggest that the Red Wings could be gearing up to sign Hurricanes winger Jake Guentzel. Steven Stamkos is also a player who could be of interest to Detroit.

Columbus Finding its Coach?

The Columbus Blue Jackets are reportedly closing in on Todd McLellan to become their next head coach. McLellan was most recently the coach of the LA Kings who was fired midseason during the teams struggles. Don Waddell came in, fired Pascal Vincent, and immediately may be getting his guy to coach the Blue Jackets, who have a lot of intriguing young players on their roster.

Islanders looking to trade Pageau

Islanders centre JG Pageau is reportedly on the trade market, and the Islanders are attempting to get rid of his $5 million cap hit, as they look to open up more cap flexibility as they pursue Winnipeg’s Nikolaj Ehlers.

Jeff Skinner Buyout

The Buffalo Sabres will be buying out the last three years of Jeff Skinner’s $9 Million Cap hit, he will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, we’ve known this for a few weeks but it is official today.
